Born and brought up in a quiet and scenic town with natural landscape in a small town in the East of India in Odisha, embedded affinity to nature in Amit. The cashew nut plantations in the hills, the fig trees, the natural tall grasses always brings in him a nostalgic feeling. His inner conscience always drove him towards nature and its way of living. His education in agriculture bachelors followed by a doctorate in farming systems resolved in him to follow his inner passion.

However, making a living and living are two different entities. The former forced him into a life of sedentary 9 to 6 job. His life was in doldrums.  Initially with his passion for yoga and sports, It never bothered him. and this continued for over a period of 25 years.But slowly as he crossed 45 and worked late hours, his body begin to say fast and loud.It was like he was inviting the trouble on him. He could be happy around like the beautiful world around. But, he was sacrificing his wellness for others nagging demands. 

 

He decided it was time to rethink the whole life process. He decided to start on his own passion from his inner conscience in his childhood days - nature living. He adopted the best available nutraceuticals in the market - Herbal products for a month. The supplements were energy protein shakes, enhancers, cellular and targeted nutrition for better metabolism, and organ functioning. After a month of trial, he got interested in the herbal ingredients and tried them in fresh form.  His diet was balanced and controlled with lots of green vegetables, fruits and nuts. The fresh herbal supplements were also infused with regular recipes and beverages making it much more effective and at a fraction of the costly herbal supplements. He also took to fitness exercises combining aerobics, weights , pilates and yoga.

 

Within a month he could see results.  He lost 10 Kgs, weights in a month. His BMI shifted towards ideal 23 from 32. He was active and feeling energetic every new day. He slowly started to share his experiences with his friends and dear ones. Today, they are also leading a life full of energy and wellness. 

 

Almost simultaneously, he faced another event which made him to start the social enterprise  "FresHerbal" with 100% conviction was the loss of his mother after she struggled for her life when doctors gave up due to a stage 4 diagnosis of cancer of the gall bladder. The unfortunate part of the disease diagnosis is the symptoms reveals only at a very later stage, when doctors could also do very little to reverse the situation. Somewhere, down his mind, he realized the root cause to be the unavailability of safe, fresh and organic herbs and vegetables in economically viable and sustainable option to the common man in urban setting. He decided to engage full time in setting up the Fogs Global Research and Consultancy Centre at Ahmedabad, quiting his job in Germany and returning to India with the major objective of developing a sustainable food system through fresh herbs and dairy using frontier technologies.  His PhD research using frontier analysis for farming systems from Hohenheim university in Germany and NDRI in India helped him develop the algorithm for the same. Amit's determination to ensure that similar situations shouldn't occur to anyone else in their life resolved him to develop the FresHerbal concept of growing safe, fresh and organic herbs and vegetables to meet the nutritional and functional needs of every human-being economically viable and sustainable manner on a daily basis as a basic necessity. This will be his ultimate tribute to the sacrifice made by his mother and solace to her soul so that it creates a positive impact on the lives of several such patients before its too late.

By creating a FresHerbal platform for assured supply of fresh herbals to urban consumers, creating tie-ups with professionals for the best technology support for urban farming, agro-inputs and quality nursery seedlings, he wishes to see his mission and goals achieved.

By creating a network of medicinal herbs research institutions, ayur missions, FresHerbal input suppliers, rooftop gardens, organic sellers and service providers for logistics support, he wishes to make urban farming a viable and sustainable option for a healthy and nutritious food option for city dwellers a reality in near future.
